Summer State of Mind • Columbia Missouri Photographer

It’s summer and while most people are relaxing in the mid day summer sun, for a wedding photographer this time of the year means living by the words of a calendar, little sleep, and an abundance of caffeine! And as much as I love every bit of the craziness, there are some weeks when things just get a bit too much. For instance, this week. Having your phone and computer go down in the same week is not ideal, so to get away from it all I headed to the park with Floyd this afternoon. The park always just seems to slow life down a few notches, lets you take a breath and enjoy the little things, that are not broken . If you need a moment, take a walk at the park. It will do some good! Here’s a picture I took today, yup even while I’m relaxing I’m taking photos. It’s what I do.

Tamee and Ben met and fell in love at Hallmark Institute of Photography and I was just lucky enough to witness the beginning of this beautiful relationship as their friend and classmate. We’ve all kept in touch since our graduation a few years ago and although they live all the way out in San Fransisco, when I found out they were engaged and their wedding would only be a mere 3 hours from Columbia, I was estatic! So after almost three years full of weddings behind the camera, I finally attended a wedding as a guest. Of course I brought along my little cybershot to snap a few photos during the wedding, I mean it is what I love to do. But I did manage to set the camera down and enjoy the joining of these two amazing people in one beautiful ceremony. Congratulations Tamee and Ben, love you both!

How stunning is this girl? I mean honestly, Ben, you are one lucky guy!

Oh where do I begin on this post, let’s start with my Mom, well she’s my best friend plain and simple. I would not be where I am today without the love and support she has shown me throughout the years! She’s one amazing woman and I honestly don’t know how she has the time to fill the roles she tends to every single day. Since those days when boys were icky, I have looked to my Mom for advice, and although she hasn’t always had much to say which had the tendency to frustrate me, she was there and she knew I could figure things out myself and it would only make me a stronger person. Mom’s are smart like that if you haven’t figured that one out. So thanks again Mom for being there for me throughout the years and always being that one person I can go to, you know my best friend.

As a child my hair was curly, frizzy, and completely out of this world. Not until I was 16 did I find the only person I’ve ever met who could not only tame these locks but make them look fabulous, my friend Jamie Kennison. And to this day…a few years later…I still head to her for all my hair needs. Well Jamie had her big premier for her new salon, The Directors Cut, this past week and it was a hit! So many good friends joined to congratulate her on such a huge accomplishment. She’s an amazing stylist and now has one fabulous shop to add to it! While I sit here updating the blog with a new post, Floyd is wiped out, basking in the sun from a long day at the park. I decided to take my camera along and spend the afternoon snapping new photos of Floyd. We could have stayed out there all day, but of course I had to ruin the fun and get back to emails and photos that needed to be edited. Well I wanted to share a few new photos of my pup, I think he was pretty happy to be out and about today.

Brides and yes grooms to be, check it out Metropolitan Bride Magazine’s January Issue is now hitting shelves! They did a wonderful job with winter/spring wedding fashion trends, love the feathers, and there is a flower section that just makes me want to go buy fresh flowers for my house. To add to the fab of the magazine, Metbride decided to use Jenny and Aaron’s wedding as one of their 5 page feature weddings! I was quite estatic to hear this and then to top it off my ad can be found on the inside back cover of this issue! So if you are in need of vendors its a fantastic resource, hit up your local Barnes and Noble and see for yourself!
